Why You Can't Have Both Reasons & Results - Tips for Achieving Your Goals

As a coach, I have had clients who want to have their cake and eat it too. They want the results they desire but also want to hold onto the reasons why they haven't achieved those results yet. Unfortunately, this is not how life works. You cannot have both reasons and results.

Reasons are excuses for not taking action. They are justifications for why you haven't been able to achieve what you want. Reasons sound like: "I don't have enough time", "I don't have the right resources", "It's not my fault". These reasons keep you stuck and prevent you from moving forward.

Results, on the other hand, are what you get from taking action. They are the fruits of your labor. Results sound like: "I have a successful business", "I have a happy family life", and "I have financial freedom". Results are what you should be striving for.

The problem with having both reasons and results is that they are completely incompatible. Reasons keep you stuck in the past, while results require you to take action and move forward. If you want results, you need to let go of your reasons.

So, how do you let go of your reasons and focus on results? Here are a few tips:

  1. Take responsibility for your life: Stop blaming others for your situation and start taking responsibility for your actions. You are the only one who can control your life, so start taking control.

  2. Identify your reasons: Write down the reasons why you haven't been able to achieve the results you want. This will help you become more aware of your thought patterns and allow you to challenge them.

  3. Challenge your reasons: Ask yourself if your reasons are valid or just excuses. Ask yourself what you can do to overcome these reasons and take action towards your goals.

  4. Focus on what you want: Instead of dwelling on your reasons, focus on what you want to achieve. Visualize your goals and imagine yourself achieving them. This will give you the motivation to take action.

If you want to achieve the results you desire, you need to let go of your reasons. You cannot have both reasons and results. Focus on what you want, take responsibility for your life, and take action towards your goals. The results will follow.
